MINUTES OF MEETING
February meeting The of the New Jersey Department of Retirees Association, Inc., was held on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Tessara’s Restaurant, Hamilton, NJ.
CALL TO ORDER:
After establishing a quorum was present, the meeting was called to order at 11:18 AM by 1st Vice President Jay Johnston, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Minutes of the January 2008 meeting were approved as amended below:
Add Frank Herrera as being absent.
June Luncheon Date changed to June 4, 2008.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Treasurer’s Report was received and accepted pending audit.
Approved Peter Gorman to perform a Final Audit in March, April or May of the Treasurer’s Reports.

Suggestion made to have membership application revised to include an option line for Life Membership when recruiting new members.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE:
No report.
NJDOT EMPLOYEE MEMORIAL FUND COMMITTEE REPORT:
Budget was reviewed and approved.
Silent Auction was a great success, earning $7300.00 Thanks to DOTRA for their assistance.
No action on the Freidenrich Proposal due to political election campaigns at this time.
BY-LAWS REPORT:
Minor correction made by President Chet Andres. After change the By-laws will be sent to Bruce Strickland for updating the DOTRA Website.
WEBSITE REPORT:
96 hits for the month, for a total of 6589 hits.
The NJDOT Transporter is now only 6 issues per year and Bruce Strickland has coordinated with NJDOT to have it posted on the DOTRA Website. Members can contact Edyth Hetman at 609-530-5427 for further assistance from NJDOT.
NEWSLETTER:
Suggestion made to have a request to members to submit their e-mail address to the DOTRA Website or any Director to assist in better contact with our membership. Bruce Strickland will compile a new list from submittals.
LUNCHEONS:
Spring Luncheon scheduled for March 12, 2008 at Tessara’s Restaurant. Directions to event were not included in the sign-up in the Newsletter. Bruce Strickland will send an e-mail to the e-mail list he has and also post directions on the website.
Annual Luncheon scheduled for June 4, 2008 at the Cranbury Inn. Board approved subsidizing the event for $5.00 per attendee, leaving the member cost at $25 per person.
The 50/50 needs are being addressed. It was noted about 70 attended last year’s luncheon.
TRIPS REPORT:
List of suggestions is being reviewed. Popular choices of events seem to be:
Wine & Cheese afternoon event
Atlantic City Trip
Overnight to Connecticut/Casino
2-day trip to Poconos
Jay Johnston is also investigating coordinating trips with AARP Group
Plans for future events to be presented at the next meeting.
PICNIC REPORT:
No official report, but final date should be available at the next meeting.
