Tessara’s in Hamilton NJ . There are 3 great choices for entrees at a very reasonable price.
A Dutch treat Social Hour starting at 11;30 AM. Complete and return the attached
flyer before March 6^th.

DOTRA is trying some new places in the greater Mercer area that can
accommodate our group of approximately 100-125 persons, at a reasonable cost.
We are looking for assistance from our large Membership to at least help with
suggestions- better yet, assisting with arrangements. Contact one of the listed
Officers or Board of Directors.

    

 

 

FLORIDA REUNION TO BE HELD ON FEBRUARY 12th

 

The 2008 Florida Reunion will be held on Tuesday February 12^th, 2008 at the
historic Clewiston Inn in Clewiston Florida. Clewiston is on the southwest shore of
Lake Okeechobee in south central Florida- reachable from I-95 on the East and I -75
from the West. Trude and Jim Hart are in charge of arrangements at the Clewiston Inn.

Reports are still being received from our Florida Ambassador at Large -
Frank Wegel about the very successful Florida Reunion held on the
west coast of Florida at Bonita Fairways CC in Bonita Springs on February 13, 2007.

 

 

DOTRA TRIP INFORMATION

 A Holiday Trip to Radio City Christmas Show was held on December 10th.
A bus load of DOTRA members and friends enjoyed a wonderful show-
changed a little since our trip 2 years ago, but spectacular as always.
The day was relatively mild and many walked over to Rockefeller Center,
saw “the Tree” with its environmentally efficient subdued lighting,
the ice-skaters below, a visit to St. Patrick’s and the holiday window
displays at Saks and the 5^th Avenue shops. All had time for a NYC lunch.

 

The Board of Directors is currently working on some new Social activities
with some newer retirees as our Directors, we are looking for ways to get
more members involved.

 

Suggested have been an afternoon wine and cheese -
ala Director Peter Yull, a day at the new Philadelphia casinos.

HERE AND THERE

The only way we know what’s going on with DOTRA members is through
their renewal notice with an occasional note attached- or by attendees at our
Social functions. Well the mail box has been empty recently but
Ellen McCourt (Data Processing) conscientiously sends a line every
now and then. She and friend Steve traveled to Hawaii and
California in 2007. John Mycoff (Communications) is “finally ready to
join DOTRA after several years out of the NJDOT. Been too busy having
fun with retirement.“ Another newcomer, Chuck Young (C&M and
“everywhere else in the NJDOT) writes that he “first started with the
NJDOT in the old Lab under Chet Andres. Being my boss, I always
felt I had to laugh at his terrible jokes. I see he’s President of DOTRA,
does that mean I have to start faking it again? “
Beware, Chet, has saved up a lot more Chuck!

 

With regard to getting most of our Member news at Social functions,
and I was not at the Holiday Lunch, I had to rely on the memory of my better half
of who he saw and spoke to at the Annual Holiday Party. (Now you understand
what a big problem I am having !!)

 

Thanks to the good memory of Director Janis Stia (Support Services),
we can identify some of the overflowing crowd who came out on a wintry day
to the Mountain View CC.

 

 Among the new retiree / DOTRA members there were Bill Bielak (C&M)
with guest Pat Bowker, Andres Parrella (C&M), Floyd Gentiles (Maint)
Richard Laube (Design and Access Review), Carol Flanders
(Project Mgt. and Development), Mary Bock (Design), John Stults
(Design), Theresa Butera (Design Services, Bill Burd (Structural Design),
Alice Lewis (RR Engrg and Safety), Sandy Furness (Admin)
Theresa Hugg (Adm.), Shirley Guerieri (Admin). Also, there were people we
do not see too often- Bob Britton (Plant Engrg), Nancy Nelson
(Human Resources). Catherine and Harold Yaede (Design) came
out in the cold. Betty DeMarco (Region South) didn’t make it at the last
minute because of the weather- hmm - it never did snow much down in that
Region. Hope to see you at the next one Betty. Frank Herrera (Eqt)
and the Herrera clan are always faithful supporters of DOTRA as are
Andy Cella (ROW) and Ken Hey (Eqt).

 

That’s it from cool but sunny Florida. Have a safe and healthy winter!
