Today, Acting Governor Donald DeFrancesco made a scheduled tour of some of the DOT complex, specifically concentrating on the recently completed Employee Memorial. I (Kristina Erin Kaye) was impressed by Mr. DeFrancesco's humble attitude and friendly smile ... I even was able to shake his hand between these pictures. The NJ Department of Transportation Employee Memorial was officially dedicated today with much pomp and circumstance. Unfortunetely I arrived a tad late and was not able to obtain a good vantage point for pictures. But when all the speakers had concluded I was able to obtain these. A Picnic was held today for the workers and DOT employees on the Employee Memorial. This was a bright, humidity free afternoon, which seems to be a rarity this year. Although there was no planned agenda, 3 musicians kept the crowd in a party spirit with their folksy type songs. The barbecue was manned by Steven Kook who brought this construction to fruition through his efforts. Here are a few selected images by Kristina Erin Kaye who was photographing this event for DOTRA. The Employee Memorial construction was officially started today in an beautiful Spring outdoor arena. The short program was hosted by Steve Kook. The primary speaker was Commissioner Weinstein who presented a very inspiring speech. The pictures here are of the many persons in attendance. I recognized Guy LoBue, Don Hutchinson and Wilma Gruzlovic from DOTRA.
